Dr Luxwell Jokonya, PhD, is a consultant neurosurgeon and craniofacial surgeon, inspired to provide exceptional, personalised care for his patients.

He has the privilege of being affiliated with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and its Paediatric section, the Mandela Washington Fellowship, and the Young African Neurosurgical Forum, where he is vice chair. Having authored more than 30 scientific publications and book chapters, Dr Jokonya has also contributed significantly to the scientific community.
With his vast experience working in both under-resourced as well as developed countries (including South Africa, Namibia, Turkey, China, and the USA, amongst others), Dr Jokonya is invested in holistic patient care and the maximal use of resources to bring out the best possible outcomes.
Dr Jokonya’s philosophy of care is focused on patient-centred treatment, where he involves patients in every aspect of their care, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. He believes that patients deserve to be fully informed about their condition, treatment options, and potential outcomes, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
Having gone through the rollercoaster of taking care of a loved one with a chronic pain condition, he’s drastically revolutionised his approach to the overall management of pain conditions, which has led him to take up multiple innovative ways of dealing with these often difficult-to-manage conditions.
Dr Jokonya is passionate about uplifting his community—that’s why he started SHAZ, an organisation focused on improving the quality of life of those affected by some of the most common paediatric neurosurgical conditions.
For the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of neurological conditions, we at Cognito Neuroscience Institute are here to help. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and take the first step towards getting the care you deserve.
